We are almost there and awaiting Baby E's arrival!  As you can see I have grown out of my fleeces and coats so I had to bundle up for our hike.  We had our 39 week checkup today and everything is looking good!  We will be meeting our boy sometime soon.

38 weeks

I am 38 weeks pregnant with 2-3 weeks to go!!  Due date is the 5th of January but you never know when he will arrive. I can't believe we'll be meeting our little boy soon.  I've received a lot of questions regarding my pregnancy so I thought I would post some questions and answers.

Q - What advice would you give to someone who just received the good news?
A - Every birth and every baby is different, take time to be present with your own pregnancy and plan for the birth experience you would like as there are so many options.

Q - What is your favorite maternity jean?
A - I really like Pea in the Pod Mavi or Citizens for Humanity.  The Mavi jeans are more flexible throughout pregnancy.

Q - Where do you go for advice?
A - I started out asking my friends for advice on registering, birthing options, etc.  But I realized soon that researching on my own about the birthing options was best for me.  I read...read...read about birthing options and feel that I carved out the birth plan that I really want and made it my own.  As for registering - Friend's advice is a must!  As far as pregnancy advice - I have the nursing station saved in my contact list.  As much as I would like to say I go to a website, I feel the best advice I get is from my nurses.

Q - Do you have a Midwife or Doctor?
A - I found a practice that has four midwives that rotate.  I have met with all of them and feel that they are personable and spend more time with me during my appointments.  I feel that they are more like talking to a mom or an aunt.  The practice does have OBs as well but I prefer the personal attention I get with my midwives.

Q - What is your favorite thing about being pregnant?
A - I love the process of it.  Pregnancy is the most amazing process I've gone through in life.  Biologically it's an amazing process that our bodies and babies go through, I am so fascinated by it.  Spiritually, for nine months I've been able to connect with this little guy who I get to meet very soon.  It's a pretty special process.

Q - How do you stay so positive during your pregnancy
A - I stay pretty positive with life in general.  I feel that we have this one life to live why live it with our heads down.  Look up, smile and enjoy the view while we are on this amazing journey.  Even though pregnancy can be uncomfortable at times it's a process in life that I've opened up to so I can enjoy the ride.  Finding what helps those uncomfortable times helps too.  First trimester for me it was mac and cheese and sprite as it got me through my morning sickness.  Second trimester, a good pair of maternity jeans as my body was changing so much.  Third trimester, showers and baths with epsom salt and lavender have helped my back while my growing belly has grown bigger and bigger.  Also my chiropractor is specialized in prenatal care.  She takes time with me and helps me feel great about my body and pregnancy.

Q - What are you most excited to do after being pregnant?
A - RUN and hot yoga!

Q - What foods are you most excited to eat again?
A - I am excited for Sushi, Turkey Tom sandwich from Jimmy Johns and not to have to ask the waiter is your cheese pasteurized?

Q - Are you worried about anything?
A - Maternity jeans don't have zippers - so when I fit back into my jeans (friends) please let me know if my barn door is open as I have not been used to zipping up for about 7 months

Q - Do you see anyone else about your pregnancy other than your Midwife or Doctor?
A - YES - I have a Doula who is amazingly helpful and is always there for me if I have questions.  I see a Chiropractor once a week to help with the adjustment of my body and in the latter part of my third trimester she helped get Baby E moved around to the correct position.  He was lying sideways across my belly which was giving me back pain.  It was also time for him to start moving to a head down position.  She helped him move into the correct position and adjusted my body to support him.  I also have seen a massage therapist who has helped release some muscle tightness and has helped me relax and stay in tune with my body.  We took a 6-week Hypnobabies birthing class which taught us about self hypnosis, relaxation through birthing, health, pregnancy, birthing options, caring for the mom, relax cue's for the dad and taking care of baby after he is born.

Q - What has been the most surprising thing you've learned (Question was for Casey)
A - Casey said that the most surprising thing he's learned is how much is happening biologically inside a woman's body.

Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you have questions.  This has been such an amazing experience for me and I'll continue to update you on our progress!

pack my bags...

Okay I'll admit it...I am obsessed with Pinterest.  It's my little getaway when I need a break from work or looking for inspiration.  My favorite board is "pack my bags".  I'm always planning my next vacation while I am on my current vacation.  You could call me a bit of a gypsy, seeker, pioneer, traveler...I'm always intrigued by new places, faces and experiences.  I know that in a couple of weeks I am going to meet a new face and experience something new for the first time and I cannot wait BUT, I'm still craving vacation planning.  I can't wait to plan our first little family vacation.  In the meantime - are you on Pinterest? What is your favorite board that you've created?  Leave a comment and let me know if you're a Pinterester.

week 35 and 35 days to go

I am really enjoying my third trimester.  Baby E is moving around so much and we're creating a stronger bond every single day.  Casey and I have installed the car seats, the nursery is ready, I am nesting and organizing like crazy.  Last on my list is to pack my hospital bag and continue to practice my patience and relaxation techniques.  I have been going to my chiropractor and have a prenatal massage today which has helped me feel wonderful.  My midwife says everything looks great and we are on our way for a healthy birth!  We only have two birthing classes left and we have learned so much.  In the meantime we are enjoying holiday traditions, dinner with friends, holiday shopping and walks with Brody in the cool Georgia air.

things I am realizing
I can't see my feet unless I bend way over
*see*

I wish I would have went to the chiropractor my entire pregnancy
My exercises have went from me staying in shape to getting ready for the birthing of baby E
The end of this amazing experience of being pregnant is coming to an end and it's been so awesome
I am glad I've lived every moment in the present during this process
I crave and want to make Christmas cookies every single day
My mommy friends are so amazing and supportive at giving me advice and being there for my silly questions
I laugh more now than I've laughed before - I think baby E has our sense of humors
I am more clumsy now than my usual clumsy self
People will open doors for me and let me go in front of them in lines at the grocery store just because of my belly ~ we should always be this nice
Strangers will tilt their head and give a happy, comforting smile with memory gazed eyes
I can't wait to hold our little boy in my arms

Some bloopers

Enjoy December to the fullest as it's a month filled with faith, grace, joy, love and happiness.  Everything is possible, trust the process of life and enjoy every minute of it!
