friday favorites

Yay! It's Friday - Quick story before the favorites.  I bought a new car stereo last weekend with an auxiliary jack so now I am able to listen to Pandora on my way to work, which is a blessing.. Yesterday on my way to work Big Head Todd's Bittersweet started playing which is my song right now.  I am loving my new job and the ladies that I work with.  My team includes 5 women who I just adore and who make everyday amazing for me,  their energy is so positive and beautiful.  So why is the song Bittersweet? 1. this song gives me instant memories of Colorado and 2. everything I'm experiencing right now is so sweet.  Instant memories include: spring/summer transition in Colorado, Red Rocks opening, planning hikes for the summer, days in Boulder, the warm dry air during the day and cool nights.  I could go on and on but this is FRIDAY FAVORITES!  Let's get on with the favs.

The Selby

Last night I attended Todd Selby's display of photography from The Selby at Jackson Fine Art with a good friend of mine.  I woke up bright and early this morning before the sunrise with inspiration sweating out of my skin.  Just joking I'm not sweating, but I feel like I'm experiencing inspiration overload.  I have a canvas laying downstairs in my basement ready to paint, my blog is open ready to post, The Selby book laying next to me, new magazines that arrived yesterday, incense burning, listing to this on pandora, and I just made a yummy yerba mate latte.... what do I do next?  I wanted to share with you what inspired me last night.  Todd Selby's eye for color, unique display and the ease he must present in the moment for his subjects. He is a pro at capturing the essence of personality and a storyteller deeply sits within him.  His book layout features amazing photographs, along with some of his doodles and a short story on the person he caught so calmly.  I could stare at each photo for an hour imagining a story of each room, trinket laying around or the personality of the one pictured. Todd has a wonderful website and The Selby is in your place is an amazing and inspiring book.  I also love this video from Selby Productions.

I'm not only inspired by him as a photographer but I'm also inspired by the amazing people in the pictures like Annie Novak at Eagle Street Rooftop Farm

Did I mention I'm inspired? Here are some photos to inspire you today, enjoy!

Sunday Morning Spot

Good Morning - It's Sunday and I'm sitting where I love to sit, reading what I love to read, and drinking what I love to drink.  It's my favorite time of the day, the snow is melting slowly outside, the birds are singing their sweet song, great coffee in hand while I listen to The Avett Brothers Pandora Channel.  Right now the song Beach Baby by Bon Iver is playing which I just love!  The house is quiet, no one is up and I'm reading through my Flipboard App, enjoying all of the blogs I follow. I'm also working on my Yoga Mat Review post which I will soon publish.  Pictures above are scenes from my kitchen this morning where I sit and enjoy.

Enjoy your day - do something that you love.

instant memory

Do you get instant memories when you see, feel, smell or taste something? Over the Holiday's my friend Nancy sent me a care package from Colorado, knowing it would make us feel home.  One of the items was this coffee (pictured above), which is delicious.  I've been waiting for my other coffee to run out so I could open this batch.  This morning while sipping my Silver Canyon coffee from Boulder, CO - instant memories of Colorado came to mind.  It reminded me of the early mornings when we would head up the mountain to go skiing.  As we started out early in the morning to beat traffic, we would enjoy a hot cup of coffee, listen to some tunes and anticipate what mother nature had thrown down onto the mountain the night before.  As the sun rose it would lightly shine it's rays on the snow that effortlessly laid on the arms of the evergreen trees. This instant memory flashback brought me a heart full of joy, happiness, and a couple of tear drops.  I love all of the instant memories I get of Colorado while I live here in GA and I'm sure someday when my feet are back in Colorado I'll have instant memories of GA.  Thank you Nancy for giving a gift much bigger than the basket - it was a gift of instant memories that will last a long time.

What are some of your instant memories?
